Weight loss in sick baby - should I worry?

DS (8 months) was sent home from nursery last Monday with a temperature of 101 and vomiting - we took him to the docs who diagnosed a cold/cough and prescribed some cough mixture, and told us to use paracetamol for the temperature.

He's off his food, throwing up, and has also had quite bad diarrhoea for 5 days now. We're giving him electrolyte solution to try and keep him hydrated but he's definitely lost a visible amount of weight in the last week.

I want to take him back to the doctors but am worried about being a paranoid mummy to PFB!

Thats quite a long time for him to be that ill. I would take him back. Does he still have a temperature? You can use nurofen as well as calpol I think at his age.

No his temperature has been fine since Wednesday. It's just the upset tummy and cold bothering him (and me!) now.

Think I'll give the docs a call
