Mole excision on my back

MissCooCooMcgoo · 10/02/2026 17:13

Had a suspicious mole removed yesterday.

I'm here to have a whinge about it. It's sore and upsetting me 😔 I have a 3 inch scar for a 6mm mole and to top it off, if it turns out to be malignant I've read they're likely to want to go in again and take more skin away!

I am really really not a fan. And a proper wimp with this stuff. I know obviously this is preferable to cancer, before anyone starts.

I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself and I'm also ill with a cold to top it off so feeling fed up.

Anyone got any healing tips or experience to share?

@MissCooCooMcgoo that sounds very fast for an appointment letter, fingers crossed it means there are no issues for you

My timeliness were:

21st Jan - GP
28th Jan - Dermatology
10th Feb - Excision / Biopsy
20th Feb - Call from dermatology to book results appointment
3rd Mar - Results (Had to delay due to working away), unfortunately mine is a Melanoma, so refered for wide local excision and sentinal node biopsy in the next week.

I dont think they would leave it 3 months if it was bad but thats just based on my experience 🤞

Oh god i really don't want to have a wide local excision. I've really bloody hated the healing process for this one! First ever kind of operation involving stitches ect and it's been anxiety inducing painful and stressful.

3 weeks on and it's still achy and tender and I'm so scared I'm going to pop it open even though my husband assures me its very clean, tidy and tightly closed.

Sorry to hear that @Anon1231990

@MissCooCooMcgoo I am so glad it isn't just me, although obviously very sorry to hear you are going through it, from reading other people's accounts I feel like I am being dramatic, so think I have started almost gaslighting myself to say its not that bad 😄. But I am definitely still tender, and consious /anxious 🤔 about it opening back up, luckily still have steri-strips on so thats giving a little bit more protection, I am trying to move much more delicately, but it is not my forte.

I totally underestimated the impact, just a mole removal, really thought it would be nothing 🫣

Hopefully it won't be too long until you are feeling back to normal 🤞

Just called to chase up my results. Apparently the results were sent to my consultant on Monday this week by pathology. I will either get a call for an appointment next week or a letter with the results soon.

Fuck sake I wish the secretaries could just tell me. I know they can't because if I have questions they can't answer them.

Shitting myself now.

I was called back face to face after mine, was pre cancerous and they did another biopsy just to make sure they got it all but that was over a year ago and all good now, I do have a fairly big scar though but I dont care about that

@MissCooCooMcgoo the waiting really does make everything worse. I tried various strategies to try and get the info out of the people I spoke to when arranging my appointment but they gave absolutely nothing away.

If it offers any comfort a friend had test due to suspected heart problems and would only be given the results face to face. They feared the worst, but the appointment was less than 5 minutes telling them all was fine..you really can't infer anything from the procedure IMO.

I spent a lot of time researching, and it did make me feel better to be prepared, also the liklihoods of a really bad prognosis are slim, that gave me some comfot.

I hope you get a call sooner rather than later and it all turns out to be fine 🙏
