I have been unwell with upset stomach for a couple of months and spent a week in hospital because of dehydration.
I had three calprotectin tests one when first admitted to hospital and one a week later.thrn one last week so three weeks after the last.

  1. 700
  2. 1100
  3. 660

I am having some not so bad days so it has gone down but I’m not sure if this means the problem is resolving or if it’s just fluctuating but still high enough that there is a problem that needs to be addressed!

I had a sigmoidoscopy in the hospital they took biopsies but no results yet.

my gp just thinks it’s anxiety or stress but I reallly don’t feel like it is!

has anyone had this ?
what if anything should I expect next?
will my gp likely contact me about this when they see the results or is it up to me to
chase up if needed?

im so confused now!

I’m with your GP. Likely
anxiety and stress following what sounds like a pretty horrific time of it

I had this a few years ago - calprotectin started out at 2000 and slowly came down. No one seemed sure what it was - colonoscopy showed some inflammation but biopsies inconclusive. Various ideas from hospital and GP that said either mild ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis and infection - cleared up eventually ( but left with some residual annoying rather than making you feel unwell issues). My GP sent texts to advise an appt when he saw my levels.
