Cold sore remedy in pregnancy

Help! I have two HUGE and very painful cold sores on my top lip. Am 36 weeks pg. Can I apply geranium oil directly to them? Anyone else got any tips? I want to avoid zovirax as it tends to burn my skin. Got the lypsyl gel on at the moment as it's good for the pain.

Thanks for any advice.

Try soaking an Earl Grey teabag in boiling water, letting it cool and holding it on the sore for a few minutes.

Don't know about the other stuff, sorry.

I wouldn't use neat essential oil on them, however neat alcohol (surgical spirit, vodka or even perfume) will hasten the drying-out process.

Those Compeed cold sore plasters might be worth a bash too - they're meant to help it heal without scabbing.

Mild vinegar also supposed to be good (something like cider or white wine vinegar)as a natural remedy - gently dries it out.
