Not really sure whether I need to or not. My cycles are long due to PCOS anything from 30 to 40 days long. My last cycle was 40 days so i'm on day 21 now, we didn't use a condom last night and as sperm can survive for up to a week that could take me into the time when I ovulate I think but i'm not sure due to the erratic nature of my cycles!

So words of wisdom what should I do?

If you don't mind being pregnant don't take it. If you do mind being pregnant then take it.

Take the map asap

Normal luteal phase is 10-16 days.

Your cycles are 30-40 days long.

In the absence of any other information, on a 30 day cycle you ovulate somewhere between day 14 and day 20. On a 40 day cycle you ovulate somewhere between day 24 and day 30.

So you ovulate somewhere between day 14 and day 30.

Today is day 21.

Take the MAP. Unless you want to be pregnant, in which case don't.

Yes you definitely need to take it as soon as possible if you don't fancy a pregnancy.

There is no such thing as a completely safe time in any menstrual cycle.

You can get the MAP at pharmacies (usually at a cost), out of hours GP, some A&Es and FPC (although that won't be open tomorrow probably).

The longer you wait, the less effective it is.

Thanks for all your advice I talked to DH and we agreed that a pregnancy now would not be ideal so I went to the walk in centre this afternoon and got it.

Thank again.
