Horrible withdrawal symptoms from Malaysian supplement- which forums to search for information?

There is not much to go on that I can find online. Maybe someone could help with some web sites for info/other people experiencing this.

Mum, 78, on the suggestion of her friend in New Zealand started to take a supplement for pain relief from arthritis a couple of years ago.
She has since found out it has been banned in Mayasia, where it comes from as it contains several toxic ingredients. It makes sense: mum has a gastric ulcer that is refusing to heal and one of the ingredients, (think it's the chlorphiramine or might be the piroxicam rather than the frusemide) can cause gastric bleeding.

She stopped taking it about 3/4 weeks ago and has been feeling nauseous and sick since, plus is suffering terrible back pain.
Sorry this is soooooo looooong. Standard google search not turning anything up.

I dont know anything about this supplement, but wonder if the supplement had active ingrediants whether the symptoms she is having at the moment may be things that were being masked by the supplement rather than withdrawals.
Has she had a chance to see her GP yet?

those aren't supplements they're drugs Frusemide is a powerful diuretic

She has seen her doctor. Yes Noddyholder, I had found that out. Just wondering if anyone can help with a forum?

the other 2 sound like drugs too so how was she able to buy them?

noddyholder · 14/06/2008 18:01

The other 2 are painkiller and strong anti histamine. The proxicam can cause ulcers

Do you think this nausea is withdrawal then? and if so, any idea how long it might last. Think she got them through some kind of importer. Wish I'd paid more attention at the time. Her friend said they were brilliant for pain relief and she certainly found that. Which is the pain reliever?

proxicam she should be able to get the same effect with ibuprofen but they irritate the stomach a bit.Probably has played havoc with her digestion and she must have been seriously dehydrated with them
