Mine too

Moomin · 12/06/2008 19:38

A tip my osteo gave me with my back (that often gets so stiff it goes into spasm - which is nice) - providing you're not preggers that is, or you'll be stuck like a beetle on its back:

lie on your back on the floor,
grab your knees and hug them t your chest to stretch your spine
rock gently back and forth still holding knees
THEN:
lie with knees up and back flat
relax both legs over to the right (still bent at knees) then over to the left, keeping legs togther
Do this about 10-15 times each side
Then rock again holding knees

Then carefully get up.
Works wonders for me, with lower and middle back pain.

BTW I am not an osteo so don't sue me if you do this too - it's just a gentle stretching exercise for your spine and hips.

This is a good one but I am pregnant so cant do it.
A few good pilate ones too.
Need to see my chiropractor for a good back and neck click.

eenybeeny · 12/06/2008 19:53

My osteo recommends similar exercises to moomin's. In fact, I would go an see an osteopath to establish what triggers it

Tinker · 12/06/2008 20:43

fizzbuzz - you need to move, honestly, even though it'll be agony.

fizzbuzz · 12/06/2008 21:08

I do keep moving, and doing stretches.

Doing too much (like getting a milk bottle ut of the goddam fridge) or playing with dd is agony

Whee does the moving stop and doing too much start? I kept moving and doing all the time with this, and it reached a point where it all became unbearable...hence now off work.......

Tinker · 12/06/2008 21:11

It's horrible isn't it. I was off for a week last October when my back went - also could only lie flat for any respite. Saw an osteopath and wish I'd done it earleir. So did see one on same day when back wnet again a few weeks ago, has helped a lot.

Twiglett · 12/06/2008 21:12

mine too .. sneezed it went TWANG and I couldn't move for 10 mins .. now have residual ow feck factor

fizzbuzz · 12/06/2008 21:39

Sneezing can cause a slipped disc..............

Am meant to be going to huge wedding on Saturday....have new posh frock, dd has outfit with very high cute factor, and now won't be able to go

Am seriously fecked off. Entire family will be going and leaving me and my shitty back at home.....

eenybeeny · 12/06/2008 22:01

Well I am Salamanders wife. And I have been harrassing him to see a proper bloody doctor for freakin AGES about his back. He doesnt think there is any point. Total bullshit but he wont take my word for it.

eenybeeny · 12/06/2008 22:02

maybe we could all agree each time we see Sal post we should ignore what he says and just say "see a doctor"

Salamander · 14/06/2008 11:52

Thanks to all those who posted here before.
My back is still awful but i managed to get into work yesterday wincing every quarter mile in the car, looking like i needed motability when i was getting in and out.
I spoke with Occy Health and booked in for Physio help on Monday.
Just spending the time hobbling around and wincing - can't think of a better word than that - very descriptive!!

Thanks again - time for some painkillers.....
