Period pains that start just after ovulation - surely this can't be normal?

I have 2 DC's the youngest of whom has just turned 1. My periods are roughly every 25 days and I usually ovulate on about CD 12. Have noticed in last few months though that only about 2 days after ovulation I start to get period type cramps that progressively get worse for the next 2 weeks until the day I start my period when the pain is horrendous and no amount ibupfrofen can dull it. Today is day 1 of my period and I've got such a pain in my pelvis and right hip which feels like I've got an elephant standing on them. Strange way to describe I know but thats only way I can. Just wondering if anyone else had something similar as we're considering TTC #3 soon and I'm a bit worried that cramps so soon after ovulation could inidicate that theres no way any potential pregnancy could implant properly. Would appreciate any views.

Ibuprofen and conception are not good bedfellows my dear - you need to switch to paracetamol if you don't want to compromise implantation when TTC. Sounds like ovulation pains, if you are very fertile and your hormone levels high you can experience pains around this time (I usually do)

If you only ever have one sided pain though it's worth seeing a gynae just to check there is not a problem with one ovary.
