I’m feeling so rough but moving on Saturday!

I have woken up with a sore throat and body aches while recovering from a nasty head cold. I am taking Ibuprofen but reluctant to take decongestants because I have already been using them for a week and worried about the bounce back effect. I know I am stressed and run down due to the move but I can’t help that, what I need is some advice on how to feel less ill?

Don’t take any more decongestants. You can alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen. Rest if you can. You could try steaming your head. If you want to try some alternatives- honey or lemon in tea. Echinacea.

practically can you ask anyone to help with the move? Anything you can do to make it easier? Hire a cleaning service?

Long steamy baths with Olbas in.
Lots of hot drinks.
Avoid going out in very sharp cold air, or wear a scarf over your face
Sleep a lot

Good luck!

Thanks, yes I am taking Ibuprofen then paracetamol two hours later and so on. The main problem is the aching muscles, and I can’t rest because I still have quite a bit of packing to do. I just wondered if maybe getting something with codeine in it might help with it and if anyone had tried it. I don’t like taking it because it bungs me up but might be worth it if it helps the aches.

You can get cocodomol or naproxen over counter . Cocodomol is 500mg paracetamol and 30mg codiene . Naproxen is an nsaid like ibuprofen. Naproxen is usually give over counter for period pain though.

Thanks, I was thinking about buying some codeine tablets. I don’t think Naproxen would be a good idea for me as I have IBS. I’m reluctant to take Ibuprofen for this reason. I don’t know. What I really want is to not feel ill.

Naproxen can be harsh on the stomach I take it for back pain but I take lansaprozole alongside.

If you're in the UK I thought you could only get cocodamol 8/500mg over the counter? Any higher (eg. 30/500) is prescription only as far as I'm aware.
