All over itchy rash - any ideas?

I have had a rash since the 28th Dec, started with a patch on each arm on the start of my outer upper arm. Thought it was a bit odd as there was one on each arm so not a bite etc.

Since then it has spread to my whole body apart from my face and hands/feet.

It looks like hives in some areas, and little red dots in others, and is very itchy.

I sent photos to the doc about a week ago and she prescribed steroid cream and antihistamines, which do work to help the itching a bit, but the rash doesn’t change.

Any ideas? I am mid 40s, no temp, no glands up, feel ok, not pregnant etc.

Pityrius Rosea maybe? Hard to say without an image. I had PR (not sure I’m spelling it correctly). A week in the sun sorted it.

Not sure but I’m the same boat …. I’ve been to the dr three times - first they thought hives, then heat rash ( I’m in Australia ) now looking at thrush is the initial problem that my body is having and hives/ rash a secondary problem because my body has heightened sensitivity- I too am wondering if it’s something peri as I can’t control it even with steroid tablets and antihistamines… so no help but solidarity to your struggle and hoping we get some relief soon

Thank you for both the suggestions. PR could be it!! Actually looks v similar. I don’t have any other symptoms but it looks like not everyone does.

I went to the pharmacist today and she said it was an allergy or stress reaction to something, and gave me a stronger anti-histamine. Also told me to stop using the steroid cream as it’s not doing anything anyway.

Going to do some more research on PR and how to get rid of it as I am not booked in for a week in the sun for the foreseeable future annoyingly!

My daughter had PR and it did just clear on its own. At it's worst it covered her stomach, it was diagnosed really quickly at the doctor's and it was just left to clear itself. I had never heard of it before, but hers was really itchy too.

Scabies?

eyespartyparty · 10/01/2026 12:54

I was worried it was scabies too but pharmacist said it’s 100% not. Thankful for not having to boil wash the entire house but I STILL have the rash almost all over me and still incredibly itchy. Stronger anti-histamines are helping a bit but it’s not showing any sign of actually going away. Been over two weeks now.

Does anyone else in the household have it?
