Severe back pain, can I use baby nurofen?

I've been having a few issues with my back the last week or so. It wasn't too bad and was slowly getting better. Today I was slightly bending over to clean off the bed, and I got a severe jolt of pain in my lower back. Like I'm not one to complain, but this is a genuine 9/10 on the pain scale. 10 being labor. It's genuinely that bad. I can barely walk, leaning over is a no go, and I'm overall just in a mess.

I took paracetomal but it's not touching the pain, all I have otherwise is my daughters Nurofen. It's the 3 month+ one. The oldest age I could find on dosage is "10 years – 12 years 31-40kg, 15ml dose 3 times a day."

Can I use this? I'm roughly 70kg and a 25 year old adult, I have no idea how to work out the dosage. I asked chatGPT and it told me not to use it at all. Can't find any other info anywhere. My doctors is closed ATM, and pretty sure they'll be closed the next 2 days as it's new years eve/day. Gonna try ring them in the morning regardless.

My partners been telling me to go to the hospital, but our hospitals are overloaded as is and it's not a life or death situation. But we have a 16 month old toddler who I am a SAHM to. I had to call my partner home from work as I could barely move with the pain. I'm also breastfeeding said toddler and can't afford to be gone in a hospital for hours and hours. I don't want to end up with mastitis on top of this.

I'm so stressed and don't know what to do.

You can take the kids nurofen but won't touch the sides as low dose. Is there an overnight pharmacy nearby? Can you call them and get your partner to go pick up some real painkillers? If you have a walk in clinic at the hospital, go tomorrow morning as they may be able to inject a muscle relaxer into the back if really bad.

No 24hr/late night pharmacy's where I am, stupid I know. My partner went into a Spar on the way home and they only had paracetomal.

Good idea about a walk in clinic, gonna look some up now. The only options I was thinking of was ER or GP, I forgot there was other options. Here's hoping there's actually one near me though. Thanks for the reply!

The maximum adult dose is 400mg for over the counter tablets so if it is the 100mg/5mls you would be able to take 20mls to get 400mg.

Generally liquid ibuprofen is 100mg in 5mls - should say on the bottle. A normal tablet of ibuprofen is 200mg so 10mls and most people take 2 - so 20mls.

You can take paracetamol and ibuprofen together.

A normal ibuprofen tablet is 200mg and you can take 2 so I guess you could work out how much you need to take to get 400mg.

I’m a Paediatric nurse - you can take 20ml of this nurofen, this is the equivalent of 2 ibuprofen tablets
