Please tell me this doesn't sound like a kidney infection.

Dd has said for a couple of days her back hurts. She says she can't run or walk up and down steps without it hurting. Then today she's told me she can't lift her chair at school without it hurting.
The pain is sort of at the bottom of her ribs, and about the size of her hand in area,if that makes sense.
Thanks for any advice.

Hmm. Could be a pulled muscle. If she had a UTI she'd be weeing more and it may sting. I would take her to the GP though as It's hard to say from the other end of a computer.

I know what you mean avenanap.I will make an appointment tommorrow to see her GP.Hopefully it is just a pulled muscle.
But she had a water infection a while back, can't remember how long ago.

pyelonephritis (kidney infection) usually makes you feel really crappy and ill. Does she have a temp? Is she going to the toilet more often than normal? Does it sting? Is there any obvious blood in her urine (pink on the paper)?

I am unfortunately a veteran of Urinary adn kidney infections. I suspect that if she is still well enough to go to school then she is probably OK, but think you are wise to get it checked out just in case. How old is she?

Dd is 8 and not really ill,but is abit quiet. She never really makes afuss about anything.

I just keep remembering years ago i had a water infection.I thought if i drank plenty of water and took pain killers i would be alright.A week or 2 later thought infection had go,then i had backache. It turned out i had a kidney infection and was really ill for a few weeks.
So although dd is alright at the moment i'm still worried it will turn out to be her kidneys.

I'm going to take her to GP's tomorrow with a water samply.

It's hard to say really. does the pain ease off when she's not moving?

I recently had a very nasty kidney infection which occurred about 3.5 weeks after I had had an UTI, so if your dd's uti was relatively recent it could be her kidneys. I was only given the 3 day antibiotic for the uti which obviously wasn't enough and after feeling pretty run down for a while eventually got the kidney pain, followed by a high temp. So I'd keep an eye on her temp until you can get to the gp. Oh and in my case (and this has happened twice now) my urine test was clear, which complicates diagnosis. So sometimes the kidney infection can happen without the usual water symptoms. Hope you get it sorted tomorrow.

I think the pain is always there but worse if she runs ect.
She hasn't got a temp yet,but i have been giving her painkillers for her back.So maybe that's why she has no temp.
She should of had dance after school today, but she didn't want to go because of her back.Which isn't like her,she loves her dance lessons.

I'd take her to the GP, just to make sure. I hope she's feeling better soon.
