Worried about dd, flu virus/covid

Dd is on day 5 of this horrid flu virus. She is 19 and severely autistic, she is already underweight due to other ongoing health issues and possible eating disorder (restrictive eating). She’s not eaten barely anything for 4 days other than small bites of food. She has managed to communicate to me that everything tastes weird. Her temperature is now stable, she has a very chesty cough and a very snotty nose.

Has anyone else got or had this virus? If so was there anything you ate that didn’t taste weird? I need to get her eating. She isn’t drinking much either but has drunk more today than previous days. Christmas has been miserable for her and just want her to eat or she’s going to get weaker.

Will she have smoothies or soup, if she’s not up for a big meal?

Sounds like covid.

I have an autistic child who is losing weight so I understand your concern. Don’t worry about the food while sne has a virus, her body doesn’t have the energy to deal with food at the moment. Focus on liquid, if she will drink tea add more milk, try ice lollies, frozen yoghurt, sorbet or ice cream, fruit juice but liquid is more important than calories.

She is lactose intolerant which isn’t helping. She’s had stomach issues since September and is awaiting endoscopy, she has lost over 2 stone since September, she was starting to eat a bit better but now this. She looks so skinny and poorly.

The only thing she’s drinking is J2O’ drinks (which I bought for Christmas), she literally just drunk 2 of those in the last 2 days. She won’t eat soup or drink anything warm. I will try and get some fruit juice tomorrow. She had a couple mouthfuls of fish pie today and asked for a slice of Yule log but didn’t eat it. I think she’s hungry but everything just tastes wrong.
