Infected hair follicle

This is a bit grim 😬. I have an infected hair follicle down below and am currently on antibiotics. It’s still looking v red and angry (I’m on day 3/7 of the antibiotics). The nurse said I could try a magnesium sulphate solution to draw it out 🤢. Does that work??

Yes it does

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 15/12/2025 20:17

Yes it does! Hot and cold compresses and mag sulfate. When you think it will erupt, pull the skin gently apart. When it’s ready it will burst. Don’t squeeze or press.

I had this from getting bikini waxes and had to have it removed. No more bikini waxes for me.

Really hot compress with water as hot as you can stand - I only did once a day as no time in the mornings to do it - I think it was day 5 when it eventually burst

I think that is just Epsom salts isn’t it? It should work

MissPobjoysPonies · 15/12/2025 20:33

I had one, don’t play with it but do as above suggested - or you’ll end up have surgery from an infection turning to a cyst and scar tissue. Not fun

Thank you. I was hoping the antibiotics would have seen it off but no such luck so far.

Oh my goodness, that doesn’t sound good!

It wasn’t … legs akimbo and the nurse whispered that the local anaesthetic injections were going to “hurt like hell”

Antibiotics should kick in soon, and ask a pharmacist for “drawing ointment” OP.
