She is worrying herself sick. I am inclined to think it copuld be an over/under active thyroid.
She also gets a tingling in her left arm and a pins and needles feeling, soemtimes very dizzy, very hot and seems to get very sweaty

Oh, your poor mum. What a worry.

What age is she? It could well be a thyroid problem. I get atrial fibrillation (when the top chambers of the heart beat too fast, and irregularly) sometimes, and when I first had it they checked my thyroid function (although it's not that in my case).

When she has the ecg it will tell what her heart is doing, they will then be able to do something about it and she will start to feel better. Getting anxious about it is only going to make her symptoms worse unfortunately, hard to tell her to relax but if she could she might feel a bit better. When is the ecg?

She is going for other tests next week, but she wasn't sure what they were for.
They only picked up on the fast heartbeat when she had her regular BP check

I'm sure she is having bloods taken next week to get a complete picture. Poor lady, what a worry for her and you

She is 62. The ECG is tomorrow, she ahd one about 3 years ago and they told her " wethink it's ok but the machine is broken". Which is what they told her 10 years prior to that as well.
Anyway, the fast heartbeat. is a new thing. however she ahs been complaining to me for ages about feeling worn out. She said its not like just having too many late nights, its realf atigue, as though her whole body is wanting to sleep, she use dto go out for good long walks with her friend, or take my neice out, but she says now, even if she walks to teh shop to get a paper, then she sleeps when she gets back. Also for about 3 weeks now has been on about the tingling in her arm,a dn the dizzyness. i think they are all connected, but she is worried sick.

Thinking of you and your mum today, saltire.

Well her ECG seemed to be ok, they told her if there was anything serious the GP would call her, otherwise she would get the results next Friday when she goes for her blood test results. There was no call from GP so she is slightly less worried now. She is getting the blood tests done tomorrow, one of them is for Thyroid.
