Just looking for some advice as unsure what to do and don't really have anyone to discuss with and need to figure out if I need to go to a&e or not. So I was half lying down on the couch with my 3 year old daughter who is sick this evening, she fell asleep under my right arm. I had my phone in my left hand and noticed my arm starting to get really weak, I couldn't hold my phone. I swapped my phone over, put my left hand/arm down and then suddenly my left hand and arm went completely dead, I called my partner who kept asking me to lift my left arm which I couldn't do. He moved my daughter who was asleep off of me and I still could not lift my arm off the couch. Both sides got weak and I had trouble moving my legs also. He had to lift me up to sitting position and lifted my arms up and starting shaking them and the feeling started coming back to them. Following this I felt a bit out of it. I still now don't feel right and have no idea what just happened.... I didn't get any pins and needles just could not lift my arms at all. Feeling very tired now

Something very similar happened to me a few years ago.
I went straight to A&E and they were great, I knew it was unlikely to be a stroke as it was affecting both sides of my body.
Anyway, all the tests were completely normal!
I did get a headache a little later in the day and I do suffer from migraines sometimes, so eventually it was just put down to that.
Thankfully it's never happened again.

Hi all just wanted to share an update as I am home now and want to say thanks for all your kind words. I had a CT scan which was clear so really relieved about that. I have been referred for MRI and neurology team to further investigate the issue. Dr has mentioned possible multiple sclerosis due to the symptoms I have been experiencing but i dont think it really fits for me. I then came home to a very sick 3 year old and partner so haven't had a chance to process it all but definitely a wake up call to look after msyelf

Thanks for the update. Hope you’re all ok.

Glad the CT was clear. Hopefully it was just the position you were lying in, pinched a nerve or something.
Hope your little one and partner are better soon too.

Don't think it was just pinched nerve unfortunately as my ecg showed an irregualar heartbeat, my blood pressure was high, I have high cholesterol theres a family history or stroke and heart disease. How the doctor explained it to me was that the ct scan would show a full stroke or bleed whereas the mri will show more minor damage or lesions. So could still have been a mini stroke. Just have to wait for mri to and will update further. Hopefully it's nothing but still feeling very anxious about it all

@Everestisthebest I had an incident like this and they seemed to think it was hormonal due to onset of perimenopause causing a hemiplegic migraine which mimics a stroke. I know though that it's very frightening. My MRI showed small white brain lesions but they couldn't say when they happened and it could have been previous or even born like that. I had everything investigated including MS and they couldn't come to any concrete conclusion. I was put on a combo of aspirin and clopidogrel because my family had history of strokes. That was nearly 20 years ago and I've been fine since then. Good luck with it all.
