Anal skin tag removal - advice needed

Sorry for the unsavoury topic, but I am due to have an anal skin tag surgically removed next week and am hesitating about whether to go ahead. I’ve read so much about how painful it is and lengthy recovery period. Also that it isn’t always successful and leaves worse problems. Just wondering if anyone else has had it done and whether it was worth it - and whether you would repeat the process if you were deciding again?

Is the skin tag causing you any problems?

Not hugely. Bit annoying when wiping but I am sometimes a bit self conscious about it during sex

I had quite a few. And was happy to have them removed.

I would say the recovery is grim for the first few days (and nights) but as long as you have time to take plenty of baths (after every bowel movement as you can't wipe). Eat a LOT of fibre and watery foods to ensure you don't have to strain too.

The surgeon actually didn't remove all of mine at once so I did have to return.. Not sure how that happened and no one explained but. The second time wasn't as bad - as only one tag, so perhaps your recovery will be not too uncomfortable also.

Yes - no stitches. Which sounds weird but in fact it did all heal fine.

I had had fissures prior to the piles/skin tags which eventually healed - that's a whole other kind of pain!
