im so fed up of my skin!!
has anyone suffered with perioral dermatitis that would share their regime on how to get rid of it!!

I have doxycycline on the way today and I’ve ordered some fluoride free toothpaste from Amazon! Today I’ve started with literally just washing with water and pat drying and leaving it alone! But it’s so dry and irritating! My face looks a mess! I don’t even want to leave the house!

any advice would be appreciated
thank you xxx

Can I ask what dose you are on? Also, when it was at its worse, does yours sting?

Natasha1993 · 30/11/2025 23:47

dose of which one? The antibiotics or the gel? Yeah it stung really badly and was weeping! And then it would flare up all my cheeks like they were burning 😢

Hey @Natasha1993 , how's your skin doing now?

I had a similar thing start in October on my chin which then spread to either side of my nose. I've spent 3 months back and forth to the gp who was convinced it was seborrheic dermatitis and kept telling me to try various anti-fungal creams with no success.

I saw a private dermatologist today who said its perioral dermatitis and has given me 2 months of antibiotics and Elidel cream to put on.

I found your post when I was searching for perioral dermatitis and wondered how your skin is doing now?

My daughter has perioral dermatitis and had this since September 2025, we have tried antibiotic creams aswell as antibiotics prescribed from GP however condition is getting a lot worse causing pain, discomfort and she is awake all night. It’s now weeping yellow puss which we have been advised from 111 that this is a sign of infection and we have to be seen in the walk In centre as GP has no appointments for over a month . Have fluoride free toothpaste, and lyonsleaf zinc calendula cream . Anyone have any other tried and tested remedies?

@Mitchell2012I’ve had perioral dermatitis and from the research I did at the time and various pictures of others, that doesn’t look like what your daughter has. That almost looks like a reaction/burn type response.

my guess would be her nose ring is causing a reaction, could be the metals in it.

Your poor daughter 😞. Please go back to your GP and ask for an emergency appointment.
