Bleeding gum but made it worse!

I am trying to improve my oral health. Plus I'm scared of the hygienist! I noticed some bleeding so really tried to get on top of this. Been in between the offending tooth with a teepee brush, twice a day. Usually this clears it but this time I think I’ve overdone it and irritated my gum. It’s super sensitive now and hot/cold hurts,

I do have an appointment booked but I wondered, could I have made made the gum issue worse with my overzealous use of interdental brushes. I’ve really been going for it!

thank you.

slosh warm salty water round it a couple of times a day - will heal in no time

100% salty water. Why are you scared of the hygienist? Pain? I drug myself up before going as I used to experience awful pain. Doesn't bother me now. It sounds as if you take good care of your teeth/gums with the Tepees. Salt water has never failed me

It sounds like nerve pain if hot and cold hurt. Could it be a filling? It might settle if you are gentle on that area for a few days and salt water rinse

Salt water is very healing but make sure you use cooled boiled water.
Dentists are great at looking after nervous patients these days, don't worry too much!

Yes you can make it worse by over brushing. Your hygienist should shoe you how to clean properly. You shouldn’t be able to feel the wire of the Teepee if you can it’s too big. Only the bristles should be in contact with your tooth.

Thanks. Going to start with the saltwater now.
