Sudden shortness of breath

I am 42 slim walk an hour each way to work absolutely no problem. About 5 days ago I walked up the stairs at home to go to the toilet and I was completely out of breath and had to stop at the top. I then found the same every time I go upstairs.
I walked the same journey to work the last few days and it’s painful and I physically can’t manage any slight hills. I walked to get the children from school which is a light hill and felt like I was going to collapse with exhaustion.
Ive also been getting headaches. Any one else experience this?

I’ve also got a notification from my health app saying my resting heart rate has been higher than usual in the last 6 days

See your GP. Guess work has no place here!

Get to GP. The differential diagnosis here is quite broad and some causes more serious than others. You need an urgent appointment. If you can't get one then A&E as there are some possibilities that need treating urgently. My reception staff would have passed you to the duty doctor straight away for a call back with that history. I have 6 or 7 possible diagnoses that needs excluding straight away from this short history

Yes because your heart is having to beat harder to get the oxygen round the body.

Hi follow a you tube couple who we’ve actually nicknamed’The Fit Fu*rs’ as they hike, ski etc and put us to shame.
She’s been out of breath and had lots of tests and has a type of cancer.

Im not suggesting you have but I’d certainly be getting myself looked at asap.

All the best x

This was the start of long covid for me. It took a while to get diagnosed with POTS (also from the covid infection). Have you had covid recently? It could be any number of things, so hope your appointment helps.

Did you see a Dr?
