Evening all,
I've just been to the doctor today in relation to some symtoms I've been having. For as far back as I can remember now I've been having a lump like sensation form in my throat after eating certain foods. It can be quite uncomfortable to swallow for a while but then it eventually goes away. Also I have been badly bothered with heart burn in the past but more recently not so much. I actively try and avoid those foods that make me feel like this!
Around mid September I took what I can only assume was covid and since then I've had an extremely bad cold. I've finally got rid of the runny nose but I've got a dry, tickly lingering cough since. Now I went to the doctors today and mentioned all this and she seemed very concerned about the lump sensation in my throat. I also have been having severe backpain but it's been on and off for years aswell, I blamed my horrendous posture.
I always assumed I just had severe heartburn/acid reflux but didn't realise its can be dangerous if left untreated. So tonight I've got the cough, I'm scared to eat, I think my anxiety is making me think I've a lump in my throat as I haven't ate and my back hurts! Any advice on if u think its reflux related or possibly oesophageal cancer as I know the symptoms are similar. I can also be hoarse at times and my chest feels heavy tonight, again could be anxiety.

P.s I know I sound extreme but I'm just scared. Doc has referred me for xrays, ultrasound and camera down my throat.

This sounds exactly like my symptoms before I was diagnosed with reflux - omeprazole has made a huge difference.

I had similar symptoms and the issue was lower in the gut. IBD. Since that's been sorted, no more reflux.

Don’t panic. I have the same symptoms and have had them investigated in the past. Recently got worse so I am seeing doctor again. It’s common.

I guess you will only know until the results come back, but from what you said it doesnt sound like anything serious.

Many thanks to you all for your replies. Absolutely, will not know until I get the tests done. Up this morning, scared to eat, have had a plain cracker, can already feel a lump, wasn't there when I actually woke up though. Trying to stay calm as I know my own head is my worst enemy 😭

Very typical reflux symptoms. It’s good you’re being checked. Try not to panic.

Thank you @Friendlyfart ❤️

Had 2 xrays today and got a cancellation endoscopy for next week so at least I don't have to wait too long.
