General unwellness what to take

I possibly ate something iffy on Saturday as I had quite a sore abdomen yesterday.

That seems to have gone but I have a coming and going headache, feel generally exhausted like I could sleep for a week. I also have a general feeling of nervous anxiety, jaw clenching and racing thoughts.

I've just had my period so was not at my strongest and I am going through a period of work stress anyway. I also started antidepressants recently and I'm now on third week of 10mg. I've slept most of the weekend including mid morning siestas on both days. However I've given up trying to sleep tonight due to racing thoughts and have instead been listening to sleep sounds and playing a word game in my head which has calmed the racing thoughts. I also had an Epsom salt bath which helped slightly.

I can't afford to take the day off so what can I throw at this?

TLDR - fatigue and anxiety and headache and slight nausea - what to do or take.

I'm thinking migraine medication, lots of water, relaxing lavender spray, magnesium glycinate, a bunch of vitamins, hot water.

Sounds more like a bug. But yes take what you’ve listed, sounds like you dont need any help :)

Theunamedcat · 10/11/2025 07:34

Paracetamol dont deny pain relief when your feeling off it will only add to your issue

Autumngirl5 · 10/11/2025 07:38

Jumped on as I have been feeling exactly the same plus I feel dizzy.

HelloGreen · 10/11/2025 07:55

Do you drive to work and back? You’ll be extra exhausted, especially by the end of the day, and need to consider how well you’ll be driving if so. I’d take the financial hit and stay in bed.

Starrrz · 10/11/2025 16:26

@WinterIng2025 ive been the same! Banging head! Feeling really off now for 12 days not sure if its a virus or what :( xx

WinterIng2025 · 11/11/2025 07:23

Another day of feeling absolutely awful horrific. I'm honestly so under the weather.

I am wondering if is a virus too. I have had such a bad headache and and queasy stomach for days now.

glamapple · 11/11/2025 09:47

I’m wondering if mine is a virus although it started after I’d had a Gail’s massively over priced sandwich (because Tesco hadn’t had their meal deal delivery!). Main symptoms are headache, diarrhoea (a few times a day), and tiredness. Been going on for 6 days now ……

Boiledeggandtoast · 11/11/2025 11:00

Following with interest. I've had similar symptoms (headache, tiredness and general queasiness) for more than 3 weeks now. It feels like a very long hangover (but definitely isn't!).

CrackSpackle · 12/11/2025 03:50

Ugh! I have had a nagging headache for about a week now. Nothing seems to give much relief. I had the flu shot but it feels fluey nonetheless. No other symptoms apart from a slight fever. Is this what this year’s flu feels like?

bigmix · 12/11/2025 05:03

This is me! I’m into my second week of headaches, nausea, lethargy and dizziness. Thankfully I work from home, so can wear loose fitting clothing as anything tight near my stomach or neck has felt horrible.
I’ve eaten two slices of pizza in all this time and was rewarded with diarrhoea.
I was beginning to get worried as I feel so ill, so it’s good to see it’s not just me.

CoastalCalm · 12/11/2025 05:09

Don’t forget to replenish electrolytes as some of these symptoms could be dehydration - plain water will worsen it too so avoid and instead sip diahoralite ideally double strength and up your salt intake

Starrrz · 12/11/2025 08:20

@Boiledeggandtoast hey! Have you had the headache for 3 weeks? Ive been the same x

Boiledeggandtoast · 12/11/2025 08:25

Sadly yes, although it varies in its intensity, sometimes it's more like dizziness. Normally I run or cycle (hills are my favourite) 4 or 5 times a week but there's no way I could go out at the moment and I'm very fed up with it! I'm sorry to hear that you're going through the same thing.

AndStand · 12/11/2025 08:36

Just to add, certain antidepressants can cause jaw clenching. I had to change types because of this.

Starrrz · 12/11/2025 08:59

@AndStand i do clench and i take citalopram… but i think i clenched before? Also ive been on it for 2-3 years now. What did you get swtiched to x

It was citalopram that did it for me. I'm on Sertraline now.

Starrrz · 12/11/2025 17:20

@AndStand did you not have the clenching before the cit? Also what mg was u on if u dont mind me asking ? X

AndStand · 12/11/2025 19:33

I had absolutely no clenching before the citalopram, and as far as I can remember I was on 20mg a day.

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 12/11/2025 19:38

I have just got over this. Started with stomach ache and then moved onto more typical ‘viral’ symptoms - aches, headache etc. worst part was really sore eye muscles. Very odd.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 12/11/2025 19:51

Probably a silly question - but could it be Covid?

Starrrz · 12/11/2025 20:17

@Imabitbusyatthemoment how long did yours last for? X

WinterIng2025 · 12/11/2025 21:39

Yes to sore eyes! My whole face feels numb. Its not Covid as I did a test. I'm glad to hear its not just me. I'm wondering if it's just a drop in immunity with the change of clocks.

I'm now doing a soup and posh fruit juice cleanse for a week as I've lost my appetite, thought of food makes me feel miserable (not remotely like me!) unless it's really bland. Maybe branch out to a vegetable curry.

Thanks all I actually thought I was going fucking crazy and it was some new fangled perimenopausal ongoing hell to add to those other symptoms.

I can clear the headache by taking sumatriptan but don't think I'm meant to take it that often. Tomorrow may have to try without.

I feel like I want to gauge my eyes out and maybe remove and reattach my jaw 😂

About two weeks. Didn’t fell majorly ill for that length of time though, just lethargic, achey, and a bit crap. I worked from home throughout, apart from two days that I took off.

I took 4 Covid tests in the first week and all negative. But it's not a silly question as it does feel quite like Covid.
