I tried peppermint and it helped but not brilliant. The "cure" has come from going to a classical homoeopath. I have it under control now and have for about eight years Good Luck

We gave peppermint water and capsules to patients with bowel problems. Also actimel, multibionta probiotic vits, aloe vera juice and ginger.

This was NHS, I worked in colorectal, the patients felt some benefit though it varied from person to person.

Thanks, worth a try then at least.

I tried those probiotic youghurts but they didn't seem to help at all and I am not overly keen on yoghurt either.

aloe vera juice is supposed to be very effective.

I was given Colpermin for my IBS, which are peppermint oil capsules.

I don't know if they helped or not to be honest. But peppermint tea definitely helps with indigestion, so it's probably worth a try.

Flier · 06/06/2008 22:28

i tried colpermin, but it stung when I went to the loo!

IllegallyBrunette · 06/06/2008 22:31

I have been given Colafac (sp?), but tbh it makes no difference what so ever.

I hate the tste of peppermint tea so it would have to be the capsules.

What does aloe vera juice taste like ??

I am a huge wimp when it comes to swallowing anything that tastes nasty LOL.

LOL Califrau

Just looked on a site that does vitamins etc and it suggests one aloe vera capsule and one pro biotic capsule a day.

What I really want is a 'get rid of ibs capsule'
