Colonoscopy results, could it be bowel cancer?

My brother had a colonoscopy a couple of months ago after having bleeding and loose bowels. During the scan, they said he had mild diverticulitis and found some polyps, which they removed or biopsied. The doctor at the time said they didn’t think it looked like cancer.

It’s been nearly two months since then with no news, but now the hospital has called him in for an appointment. We’re both starting to worry — does anyone know what this might mean or what usually happens next?

I was told by the coly rectal nurse at my appt that they weren't allowed to give any news over the phone. I had the all clear and she apologised that I had to wait for the appt and go in.
Fingers crossed its the same for your brother x

Thank you, it seems such a long wait in-between. I would have thought if it was something sinister, it would have been picked up earlier and he would have been called in sooner foran appointment. He hasn't received a letter yet, just an appointment at the hospital over the phone.

I think it’s really unlikely they would have left him for two months with cancer. It sounds as if it’s just routine.

My friend was recently diagnosed with likely stage 2 during the procedure as it was so obvious to the Consultant so hopefully if they have found something after pathology it's been caught super early.

If one of the polyps did turn out to be pre-cancerous there's a good chance they'll just put him on recall so another colonoscopy in six months or a year or so. Not pleasant but nothing major to worry about.

I had a couple of polyps removed that were biopsied then a follow up appointment where they told me they were fine, though I had been told they expected them to be non cancerous at the time. If they thought they were suspicious he would know and would have heard sooner.
