I’ve had this on my face for at least 7 months, I don’t take many pictures of myself so it could possibly have been longer, but looking back at photos, it’s there 7 months ago.
When I first noticed it I just thought it was a zit or a scratch, but it hasn’t gone away.
I looked online and read about basal cell carcinomas etc and it sounded similar, it itches sometimes, it doesn’t bleed but it crusts over all the time then the crust falls off, and repeat.

I absolutely hate going to the doctors but I made myself go on Monday because I’ve been worrying about it, I hate going because I always worry that I’m just wasting their time and the junior doctor I saw made me feel exactly that.. but reading online it tells you if you’re concerned at all then go to the GP as soon as possible, sooner the better etc… but she made me feel like a hypochondriac.
She also said “I get it may not be aesthetically pleasing” .. as if I’m worried about what it looks like 😣
It’s put me off going to the doctors even more now in future.

She said she wasn’t concerned about it because it’s small, to keep moisturising and if it’s still there in 2 months to come back.
But what else could it be if it’s been there for at least 7 months?

@MammyLeelee i was a nervous wreck today when he said but he did say they do not spread and they tend to stay put he said he has had ppl who have had them on there body for like 10+ years and never realised x yes i’ll show you now xx

it does look really similar to mine doesn’t it, in the same area too, yes definitely worth you paying private!
It’s annoying when people say don’t worry because it’s hard not to, but my auntie has had a couple and she said don’t stress about it they’re really slow growing and they’ll sort you out, I was more worried because it’s quite close to my eye xx

I have 4 children too! 😂 How weird.
I’m not sure exactly how long but it’s definitely been over a year, I’ve found pictures of me from march last year in my phone and it’s there then, so it’s been at least over a year.
I’m not sure yet, she said I’ll get an appointment in the next 6 weeks at the hospital, dermatology, for them to take photos etc and then go from there x

@MammyLeelee such a worry when you have kids i over think and think the worst all the time which is natural to do so x
thatz good atleast they are taken it serious for you and hopefully it will be gone soon nothing worse than anything being wrong with your health i’m just glad it doesn’t spread that was my main worry but i have read there are quiet common xx

Hi OP 👋 I have this on my right cheek too, but I think mine could just be a spot.

Although having now looked at skin cancer pics online, now I'm a bit worried 😟

Are there any dermatologists here that can help please?
MammyLeelee · 20/04/2026 18:47

@ForeverDelayedEpiphany how long has it been there? Is it new? Definitely get it looked at if you’re worried about it xx

I wouldn’t trust a gp to diagnose potential skin cancers. Mine told me my melanoma was a reaction to an insect bite and to ignore it.

I saw a paramedic who said mine definitely wasn't skin cancer and then a nurse came into the room and asked him if he knew how to do an urgent referral. It was skin cancer and easily treated. I want a referral for anything dodgy looking now.

Thank you 😊 It's probably been there only really since last year. I was thinking it might have possibly been a perimenopause skin thing as opposed to something more sinister.

yes, I will get it checked out and see what my GP says. Hope you're not too worried about yours either Xx
