Root canal but now a month before appt for crown

That's it basically. Had to pay privately to have root canal done by specialist but they need to return to my own dentist to get crown fitted.
(I'm an nhs patient but they said they couldn't do it on nhs.)
The earliest my dentist can see me is a months time and then will be two weeks after that before crown fitted.
This seems like a really long time to me and I'm worried about damaging the tooth but they said was fine.
Apart from avoiding eating Brazil nuts! Is there anything else I should do.

Snap. I'm in an almost identical situation. A gap in between isn't bad as you don't want a crown fitted until the tooth has definitely settled down and no pain. My specialist advised at least two weeks.

It's still too sensitive to attempt to chew on that side. The temporary should be strong enough, so I'm told.

I've been here before. Can't remember the wait inbetween last time. Also around 4 weeks I think.

When I started out in dentistry the advice was to wait 6 months after having the root canal to crowning the tooth to make sure the tooth settled. The advice has since changed but in reality one month is nothing.

Thank you @RobinHumphries - that's really helpful.

@TimeToStopLurking I hope the sensitivity settles soon for you. They haven't put a temporary on mine but I'll just try and make sure I'm really careful with what I eat.
