DD2's grommets have come out. Anyone got similar experience?

I think they're supposed to come out after a while, aren't they, YG? As the child gets older and the tubes grow and straighten they're not necessary any more?

Hope that's right anyway

ds's are both out now from the op 2.5 years ago, the final one came out in October.

Everything has been fine, and we survived a winter with no ear infections etc.

Same here DS had grommets at three, came out before he was 5 and has had no problems in the last four years - it does help that he now has far fewer colds and his tubes are bigger and straighter so that the catarrh goes away easier and doesn't go to his ears.

Only realised both grommets were out when we travelled by tube one day and for the first time said his ears were popping as we went from the surface down under at stratford.

Another message of hope - DS had them fitted when about 7 one came out a year later and we thought the other was out too but it appeared in his pillow on Monday - he does have the odd leaking ear (especially after a jolly good holiday with lots of swimming) but no further issues - I hope you have the same good experience.
