MRI Scan and sedation

I had an attempted MRI scan about a month ago, but unfortunatly had a major panic attack and had to be pulled out.
Have received another appointment to go on Friday, and i'm really worried. Off to see the doctor in a bit to discuss sedation, but i'm a bit sceptical that it will work.
I need 100% guarantee that it will work, otherwise i really don't think that i can go through with it.

So the long, and short of it is, has anyone had one under sedation, and did it fully work?

Thanks (from a very panicky MN)

Thanks for all your support hatwoman. Will certainly let you know what they have to say, and thanks for the tip. You're right, I wouldn't know who to contact.

Just received letter from hospital to report that I had a normal brain scan, and no evidence of MS . Still none the wiser as to what is causing it all but good news all the same.
Thanks once again for all your support.

MMC, that is great news...I got a "you have got a normal brain" letter last week too - consultant said that there was no likely serious cause for the symptoms that I had been having..and do you know what...10 days on they are a lot better. I think that anxiety is a terrible thing, and can make a situation so much worse than it is, so fingers crossed, you will start to pick up soon too.

Glad to hear that you got on ok too . Wonder what we both had then. Must admit i'm still getting the symptoms, but here's hoping. Just got a new job, so plenty to take my mind off it, but lots of stress to go with it too iyswim.

Hello, I know this thread is old but I read it the other day as had my first MRI scan today and was looking for other peoples experiences for comfort :0) I have been worrying for weeks about having it done but it was fine, I had a face cloth with lavender oil on over my eyes and asked for ear plugs and headphones so be honest the noise was not as bad as I thought it would be (been playing MRI sounds on you tube to get used to them haaa!!) the scan was for my lower spine so I was fully in the scanner just the very top of my head was out. I wanted to reasure other people about the things that were worrying me, so here goes....
I had my eyebrows micro bladed/tatooed 11 weeks ago and was worried about that (but no problem) also wires in root canal and crown (no problem) other various fillings and crowns, some gold (no problem)
The assistant stayed with me in the room, right by my head and kept reassuring me in between scans (it took about 25 mins) but the time flew by. I also went to my GP and had 2 x 2mg of diazepam, which I took 45 mins before the scan.
All in all I am just annoyed with myself as I have spent the last few weeks making myself sick with worry!!!!
Have it done, it's fine!!!!
