DH's continual/continuous chest infections seem to be misbehaving

At Papworth today the treatment DH has been getting does not seem to be working

So if in 6 weeks he hasn't had less infections he will either go on low dose constant A/Bs or intravenous A/Bs in hospital

So Dh isn't too worried - he tends to hear the bits he likes & ignore the rest - but I am slightly panic stricken about him being in hospital for some unspecified amount of time couple of hours away from home

So I am feeling a bit down

The only good thing is that apparently this infection thingie is not life threatening

Just wanted to say I hope that he has no infections.

DS1 had a check up today and it was great, he has only had one infection since last time, so no more tests until he has rehad all his immunisations again

KatyMac · 04/06/2008 22:20

Thanks

I hope your DS is OK - how long is it since last time

DH has had 4 since Feb which mean 8 weeks of A/B

His last one was in April, but it tends to be viral and ABs have no effect, so we need to give him oral steriods.

That is a hugh improvement, 7 in the previous 6 months

TheMadHouse · 04/06/2008 22:23

Hence giving him all his immunisations again, as he seems to be imunosupprised. They took blood and tested his specific antibodies

KatyMac · 04/06/2008 22:24

Where is he being seen? is it Papworth too?

I relate to the 7 in 6 months - DH is on co amoxiclav - but I think they have no effect

No Katy we are oop north, so he is seen by a respoitory sepcialist here. I do feel for him though he is only just 3 and he lists his top and all that automatically now. The doc had to do everything again on DS2 today though - it took twice as long

KatyMac · 04/06/2008 22:46

Poor sausage - at least DH understands what is going on

Dh is not so hot today - which is a bummer as he is 10 days into 14 days worth of A-B's - we thought he would be getting better
