Vitamin or protein shakes for DS at uni

DS is at uni and his course is very physically demanding. He’s in from 8am until 8pm some days and is finding it hard to eat enough. Can anyone recommend some protein shakes or drinks that he can have to give him a few more calories in between meals?

If he’s not eating properly he needs something like ensure or fortisip so that he is getting enough calories and nutrients. A protein shake won’t be enough. Fortisip is the slightly lower calorie option but gives a mix of protein, vitamins and minerals.

Thanks Oh, I’ll have a look at these 😊

I’ve heard good things about Huel

Can he take something like Huel? It's a nutritionally complete meal in the form of a drink. I've never tried them so they might taste awful but it sounds like a good option if he can't take a loads of food in with him.

I’d encourage him to start batch cooking & meal prepping rather than have him rely on liquid calories.

Good idea. I think I’ll start sending him back with meals when he comes home at the weekends for work. He’s recently been diagnosed with OCD so he’s finding things a bit overwhelming at the moment.

Thanks for the Huel suggestions. I’m not sure if he’s tried that. I had a chocolate one once but I couldn’t stomach it.

My DS cooks for himself but only once a day. He likes protein shakes for lunch / during the day. I just buy from myprotein.
