dd has rash on tummy and back and is very very unsettled - could this be chicken pox?

she is 1 yo and is yelling like a banshee with dh at the mo. I only noticed the rash at bath time, it's not raised at all and it does blanch when pressure is applied and as it is only under her little vest and I washed that in a new detergent I figured that was the problem.

But she had a touch of diarrhea this pm and is proving very very difficult to settle, very miserable and no calming her down. She does do this every now and again but this is worse that normal. Both she and ds have had snotty noses and temperatures for a few days but were improving. There has been chicken pox at the nursery - could it be that?

CP is normally like blistery spots

it could be viral

LIZS · 02/06/2008 20:19

no more likely viral or a reaction

thanks! it's like little tiny red patches under the surface - she always scratches her tummy as soon as she can reach it so I can't tell if it's itchy or not.

Both times I've dealt with chicken pox it seemed to blister fairly quickly and wasn't flat.

Also seemed to spread very quickly! Keep an eye on it to see if it's changing appearance, ie popping up or forming what looks like a little blister or a spot. Also check places like the neck, behind the ears, armpits, groin, etc. since it seems to like the warm sweaty places!

Good luck!

she's gone off to sleep now - thanks for help, will keep an eye out for changes

it might be heat rash...my DS has had it for the last 2 days. Aloe vera gel helps.
