Hi ladies. Well I have never really been on the pill, tried a few years ago and it turned me into a monster so stopped taking it. I am really scared to go back on it again because of this. We have 2 children and we don't use contraception (he pulls out, sorry!) When we have tried to get pregnant with our DD's obviuosly he didn't pull out and I became pregnant. However I know this is not very safe and I don't really want any more children at the mo so am concidering going back on the pill or something else? Can anyone give me their experiences please? Also my periods are so irregular which is why I am tempted again with the pill. Thanks

Have you considered a cap or an IUD? Or the mini pill?

Withdrawal is not safe- you know that!

I reluctantly went back on the pill after previous bad experiences. I've been on Yasmin for 7 months and have been fine, until the last month where I feel constantly tense and bad tempered - like constant PMT. I am convinced its the pill and want to come off it, but what else is there. I think I might look into Persona or maybe just throw caution to the wind as we do want another baby, just not quite yet!

JUst to say i had one bad pill experience- Ovranette-(acne!! and bad nausea) but then tried a tri-phasic one - Trinordial- this is going back years mind you-and it was great- hormones phased over the month so they are more like your own levels.

Actually I have a persona upstairs with 2 packets of things to go with it!

I can't remember what pill I was on but it was awful. I am also suffering with bad PMT since DD2.

Don't fancy the coil. I have heard there is a new injection now. What is the mini pill?

Oh, you've got to be really disciplined with the mini-pill!

I can't take the pill anymore, and had a coil before ttc #3. Except for the first few weeks, I thought it was pretty near perfect.

fifisworld · 02/06/2008 20:42

I had the coil fitted in March, lasts 5 years, have had heavier/more painful periods but this apparently calms down after a few months and they can stop altogether. Because its not hormonal theres no pmt affects

mini pill is progesterone only pill- sometimes called the POP pill. You won't get so many side effects- it doesn't prevent ovulation but makes cervical mucus tougher and affects lining of womb so less risk of eggs implanting.

You have to t ke it at the same time every day- or else!

Dummymumm · 02/06/2008 20:53

I've had the implant in my arm. sounds really yuk but at least you can forget about it for 3 years. same lack of periods as with injection/mirena etc though.
