Oh why did I check in the first place.... ok, what SHOULD a cervix feel like, post birth?

First off, I don't normally go fishing about down there so I don't have much of a clue of what is normal these days. Pre-baby my cervix was high and closed, several months post baby it feels open perhaps 1-2cm! I jumped in shock when I felt it! Is this normal??? (the fact that it feels open, not the jumping)

normal

Seriously? I had no idea. Thanks

I wonder now how they know you're in early labour with subsequent babies if it always feels so open.

thanks again, I was worried. I'm hoing it'll mean a quick easy birth next time (I'm not pg btw just speculating)

Yes, it should feel a bit more open - that's one of the ways doctors can always tell whether someone has had a baby before or not. And subsequent labours normally are considerably faster than first ones (unless the baby is in a difficult birth position).
