Vulval vestibulitis sufferers? a query from one to another ......

I've had bad vvs for a long long time. 3 kids later still no better. Was getting round to attempting sex again after dc3 and find I can't get lignocaine gel any more which is what i used to use to make things less painful ( well entirely numb in fact!) Have tried lignocaine ointment but it stings like mad. Has anyone got any suggestions for an alternative. Thanks

Have you been in touch/on website of the vulval pain support group? Sorry haven't got a link, but google will have. Hope you find something.

www.vulvalpainsociety.org

MissKubelik · 03/06/2008 19:53

yes definitely try the Vulval Pain society. Also I think there is a Yahoo group called Vulval Pain - maybe someone on there could help. Also have you tried asking your GP? maybe they would be able prescribe it for you. you could even try your local GUM clinic.

I have much sympathy by the way - I suffered with this for 5 years before having DD. I hope things improve for you soon.

MissKubelik · 03/06/2008 19:56

this is the Yahoo group

Theodore · 03/06/2008 21:52

Thank you . I'll try the yahoo group and see if anyone has any ideas. MissKubelik did you just get better after having your baby ? I've tried 3 with no luck

My sympathies, Theodore. This condition ruined my first engagement. Without giving TMI, it wasn't a problem for me until I was with my first fiancee who was rather well endowed and has stuck with me since, although it is now bearable. The advice I was given by a GU consultant was to ALWAYS wash with a non perfumed soap like Simple before intercourse, use plenty of lubrication and use a Canestan / Hydrocortisone cream that was prescribed afterwards.

TBH I don't tend to be so bothered by it now as I was 15 or so years ago, but still have bouts of pain which makes me think I should go back to the advice given above. Could you go to your local GU clinic tp see if they can prescribe you anything?

Thanks for your post Mrsmopple. I go in phases re. being bothered by it. I guess at the moment with dc3 8 mths i'm wanting to be in rather less pain than i am now. You're right - I probably need to go back to a doctor about it.
