Smear results - handhold / reassurance needed

I had my smear results back today. Still HPV positive, now with high grade cell changes (severe dyskaryosis). I’m 26 and have a 3 year old daughter. I’m really worried as I have had some symptoms for a while, trying not to let my worry show. Awaiting my colposcopy appointment date, and could do with a handhold.

Well done for going for the test. You have caught this when it's easily treatable, and prevented yourself from getting cancer. It'll be fine. Good luck for the colposcopy.

Handhold. It's so scary. I had two Lletz treatments, and I was really worried for a while, but I've been clear for a good few years now. I also had another baby, and though they kept an eye on the length of my cervix because of the treatment, everything was brilliant.
It's so frightening and really makes you think so much about the value of health... Your head is full of what ifs! But you've been so sensible and responsible going to get tested.
Good luck with the colposcopy.

Hi OP, when I had my first smear at 25 I had abnormal cells which turned out to be CIN3 which had spread into the glands. I had to go back and get the LLETZ treatment to burn the cells off and returned a few months later for another smear test where the result was absolutely fine.

I’m 28 now and have had no issues since. I just wanted to share my experience and send a handhold as I know how worrying it is, I remember the worry consuming me at the time.

I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry, I’m sure all will be ok, sending love xx

Thank you, it’s reassuring to hear your stories. I’ll try to keep calm and fingers crossed all will be well!
