Not me! An old mate posted on FB they have it and they’ve been in hospital a full week and still there! How long is recovery usually? I don’t know what type it is!

It depends on whether it's viral or bacterial. I'm a survivor of the worst type -bacterial and septicaemia (blood poisoning). I'm lucky to be here and to have all my limbs intact. Swift action on behalf of my mother saved my life.

I was in hospital for a month or so, then I had physio, and hearing loss, and muscle wastage and other bits and pieces but I was OK in the end. I was 23 at the time and was out of work for four months in total.

The recovery is much quicker with the viral type and it's not usually as dangerous as bacterial. I hope your friend will be ok.
