DD noticed this rash this morning, and it seems to be getting worse. Would a trip to a pharmacist be a good idea?

Is it in 2 different areas?

ClawedButler · 21/08/2025 14:35

Thanks for replying. No, that's the same rash, photos taken 3 hours apart

Has she had antihistamines yet? Any idea of the cause?

Is it itchy? Or does it hurt?

You can get both oral and topical antihistamines, and take both together. So yes, I'd head to the pharmacy.

If it hurts, rather than is itchy, consider shingles.

MigGril · 21/08/2025 14:39

Yes does it hurt. Agree with trying antihistamine if she can have them especially if itching.

I didn't realise until I took DD to the doctors for a painful rash at around 9 years old that they can get shingles at this age. They gave her antivirals.

ClawedButler · 21/08/2025 14:40

At the moment it's itchy rather than painful, and she feels well. Thank you so much for replying, I think antihistamines may be in order.

That could be shingles. I would get it seen to as with shingles you need anti virals quickly.

dementedpixie · 21/08/2025 14:42

Could be the start of shingles too. Has she had chickenpox?

dementedpixie · 21/08/2025 14:42

Not sure kids get antivirals but you can ask

Bloodymigraines · 21/08/2025 14:43

It looked like a cluster of mozzie bites , I've had it before when one must have got stuck in my pjs.

My ds had shingles age 3 after Chickenpox as a baby. Was misdiagnosed at first as eczema

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/08/2025 14:46

That looks like shingles, I’d speak to a dr pronto.
