Looks like an insect bite but isn’t

Has anyone had this? It’s a small lump on my arm, squashy, moves with skin, is growing very very slowly, not itchy or painful.

Hard to get a good photo of it, have yet to take one that captures the size, height and colour.

Looks exactly like a mosquito bite, ie slightly raised and red. Currently about 1cm diameter but irregular - started round but growing lengthwise (over at least 9 months). Appeared suddenly!

GP was not concerned, said let’s keep an eye, looked at it with the dermatoscope, nothing worrying there.

I know about lipomas but this doesn’t look like an images I’ve seen online so I’m quite curious about what it is, and whether it’s going to keep growing?

Over the summer when I’m wearing short sleeves etc it’s quite noticeable. If I saw similar on someone else I’d think ooh that looks like a nasty bite!

I’m not worried about it - mildly irritated maybe 🤣 but would like to hear about anyone else who has similar.

I had something like this, and it got quite big - in fact where it was I didn't even notice it until it got bigger and tender. The dermatologist thought it was a keloid scar (and it was) but suggested removal and testing properly, although left it up to me. I opted to have it removed. Ten minute procedure.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds potentially similar but aren’t keloid scars usually where there has been a previous mark or injury to the skin? Not the case for me but interesting parallel.

As far as I am aware I didn't have anything previous either. But that's always going to be "as far as one is aware" - do you notice every single possible minor scratch, and possibly from weeks before you noticed this at first? I know I don't. It could be a tiny pinprick or scratch initially. I've got a bruise on my arm at the moment. Noticed it this morning but judging by the colour it must be at lest 48 hours old. No idea how or when I did it. Even a tint insect bite could be the start of it.

No it’s absolutely possible of course, so could be keloid - guess I’ll just have to keep an eye on how it develops.

Are keloid scars more on the surface of the skin though?
My ‘lump’ is under the skin but the skin over it is red like a bite.

Bumping this in case there is anyone who has had this.
