Hi there, this year I've noticed changes in my feet. When I'm in one position for any extended period of time, they are stiff and painful to move and walk on. It happens first thing in the morning, at the cinema, on a car journey etc. They're more puffy than usual, ankles too.
Then last month I seemed to drop everything on my feet - the patio door bashed into one of them, a filing cabinet fell on the other one. A pint of milk on one - you get the picture.
They're now really painful, both of them. I don't know if it's the accidents or if it's something that was starting to happen or a combination of the two but I can hardly walk and by the end of the day they are like balloons. I can only wear very loose sandals and I can't walk far. We live in a 4-storey town house so getting about is becoming very difficult.
I went to A&E and they did an x-ray, which showed that there had been a broken bone on my left food, little toe, but that's not where the pain is. She said that I may have stress fractures but they often don't show on an x-ray until 4 weeks after the injury.
So I don't know what to do. Does anybody have any similar things or any tips about what to do?
I'm in my 50s and everything's going south a bit. I'm very slightly overweight, usually fairly fit and active although probably a bit too much wine.
