DD has measles type rash but has had MMR?

My DD (5) has had a temp for the last couple of days, generally irritable, tired and not eating much.

Tonight she has come out in a rash on her torso, flat red spots, irregular and different sizes. Looks like measles but she has had both MMR jabs.

Any ideas?

MMR is not 100%.

Bump for you for someone to come along who will know.

Hope your DD is soon better.

Could be german measles/rubella or could be a similar viral reaction. My DD1 had this despite MMR. As already said, MMR is nowhere near as effective as the government would like us to believe. Without blood tests, it is my understanding that a visual diagnosis by well trained doctors is still not foolproof. At least, that is what our family GP admitted to when we went through this a few years back (my sister was pregnant and so was very concerned).
Personally, I would treat it as any viral infection with a temp. Use calpol/calprofen if necessary, keep an eye on fluid intake and not worry if appetite fluctuates. Cool cotton loose clothings to limit itching and keep indoors away from possibly passing it on to others. Obviously, if there are any pregnant women who have been in contact with your DD in the last couple of days, it would be sensible of you to let them know. Otherwise, sit it out and hopefully now the rash is out, the worst is over.

If the rash started on the torso then it probably isn't measles - that tends to start on the face and spread downwards I think.

Ds2 had similar last week - had high temperature/snotty eyes/cough over the weekend, came out in rash on face, which spread downwards to his neck/chest/arms/tummy/legs. Took him to the GP who said 'has he had his MMR? Are you SURE he had the measles vaccination?' She then diagnosed him with a 'non-specific viral rash'. He's got better fairly quickly, so I'm not too anxious, but I do think it was either measles or measles type virus.

I read somewhere that they won't diagnose measles if they've been immunised because it stuffs up their vaccination statistics.
