I'm 12 weeks Postpartum and since the birth I have had irregularity, mostly constipation for two or three days every week or 10 days.
I mentioned to my doctor and she examined my stomach and said she could feel no obstructions and advised that I get Magnesium Citrate supplements to help naturally.

I got 440mg Nutravita capsules and have been taking two per night for the last10 days, everything has been much easier, sometimes a little too easy! Lol.

This last Thursday, I was out with my sister shopping and had a sudden urgent need for the loo. I was in a panic as knew it was very near happening, I barely made it the nearest Public loo's eeek!

I was a bit shaken and uncertain after that but it has happened twice more at home and one time I didn't even make it upstairs. TMI, totally liquid.
Is this the IBS or the supplements I'm taking?
Its made me afraid to go far.

If you are still taking magnesium it will do this. Perhaps lower the dose or stop altogether and manage with diet: fluids and fibre?

I would take lower dose magnesium, it’s probably working a bit too well. I also take magnesium but not every day and only ever just one 300 mg tablet. IBD does have similar symptoms, but with this you may also have blood in stools and chronic stomach pain.

Thanks, I may ease off on the dose, it was working OK and my sleep has been amazing so reluctant to give it up but the risk of an accident out somewhere is terrifying, bad enough at home! 😳😂

Ask your GP for a SeCHAT scan for bile acid malabsorption

The urgency is a classic sign of bile acid malabsorption. My symptoms started after the birth of my first daughter and were misdiagnosed for years. Might not be, but worth ruling it out.
