Any GPs around or kidney specialists ….?

I have had really painful metatarsalgia and plantar fasciitis in my feet for about two years now. Nothing has helped. GP has referred me on but said in the mean time I should take a course of anti inflammatories 3 x a day for two to four weeks.

I have reduced kidney function, they’re working at about 60%. I always thought I couldn’t take anti inflammatories because of this. My GP said that a course of 2 to 4 weeks won’t hurt.

Can anyone confirm this?

I personally would be cautious with these and would only take the smallest dose twice a day maximum, if at all. For plantar, stretch your calves! Alot!! Lots of simple stretches to be found on you tube if you need to look them up. Hope your pain eases soon.

My daughter has complex kidney issues and our consultant always advised against ibuprofen but said she can take them if necessary. I don't think too many will hurt?

For plantar fasciitis wear a small heal and invest in decent insoles.
Apparently it is another side effect of menopause. Since I’ve been post menopause and off HRT I have had no problems. I do have gel arch supports stuck in all my summer shoes and if I’m going to be walking a lot I pick the right shoes. I also discovered that the pain disappeared at work where I wear crocs.

As for ant inflammatories a small dose, couple a day should be ok for kidneys. You’re not using them as a painkiller but to reduce inflammation. The dose can be much lower.

You could try the gel, rubbing directly onto your foot.

Thanks all for your replies. Maybe I will take 200 3 x a day instead of 400
