Should I be worried about 3 day fever in 1 year old?

Hey all,

DS is 1 and has had a fever ranging from 38-40 deg. since Friday. He has mild cold symptoms (which he's had for 10 days now) & is cutting 2 teeth. All websites I've read say that teething doesn't cause fever etc. etc. He seems fine & is eating & drinking, but I'm still concerned that this fever has lasted this long. Any advice?

I would try to get his temperature down - baby nurofen helps, plenty cold water (unless he's BFed in which case no need). If he has a cold he could have developed a chest infection or something like that.

That seems a high fever but great that he's eating and drinking ok! I would definitely take him to the out of hours doctor tomorrow (or tonight if you need to) to get him checked over. My GP always says to come back every 3 days because things can change from one thing in to another.
