Suddenly exhausted and unmotivated

Wondering if anyone has been in the same position and had any words of advice as I feel a bit silly going to the doctors for this.

the last 2 weeks I have felt beyond exhausted and completely unmotivated. The same overwhelming tiredness as pregnancy tiredness (I am not pregnant though - have tested and just had period!)

I have a toddler and have gone from being out twice a day absolutely loving planning things for him to do and feeling on top of the world to just wanting to lie on the sofa and feeling overwhelmed and teary all the time. Nothing has changed in my life to cause it, DH has taken toddler out so I can have a break but I really don’t know what to do to fix this, I am usually so positive and I just don’t feel like myself

I would get a blood test and have your ferritin (iron) levels and haemoglobin levels checked. I felt similar and was severely anaemic (iron level of 4)

Blood test and iron levels need checked. The fatigue and exhaustion when mine was very low made me think I was going crazy, that I was depressed. Because of my age I blamed peri-menopause, but it was actually due to uterine polyps / very heavy periods resulting in extreme iron deficiency (mine was 4 as well). The improvement when I took supplements was huge and very quick.

Thank you both, did you just request the tests with the gp?

Get your thyroid checked while you're at it! I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, yes I’ve felt like this a couple of times. Once when my thyroid was diagnosed as underactIve and another time I was anaemic

Yes, had a GP appointment and bloods taken by the nurse. Then a follow up telephone GP appointment and prescription issued. I feel so much better now!
