38.5C fever in (almost) 4 year old......

..i don't know why i feel so scattered-brained about this this morning. ds (who is 4 next month) has a fever this morning, no appetite (he woke at 7am after 12.5 hours of sleep) and then napped again from 9am-11am.

(i've dealt with him having fevers before) i usually give him something to bring the fever down, like Calpol. presuming the fever is there to fight something off... should i give him Calpol or just let him get on with things and see how he does?

he's definitely not right. normally he's talkative a mile a minute

sigh... thanks MN'ers... you know how rough it is to see your little one poorly...

I would give calpol and carry on giving extra leeway knowing that he isn't on top form.

Hope he is feeling better soon.

i would watch and wait before giving calpol
reducing fever could mean you don't know how poorly he really is and 38.5 isn't that high

i did give him some calpol and luckily i have some frozen juice pops in the freezer
(i remembered my mom used to give me those when i was poorly to get extra fluids inside me)

thank you...
