I asked the nurse and she just said that its normal! Should he have been discharged without opening his bowels?

Lots of pain meds cause constipation so it could be that. Can you give him something gentle like lactulose?

Flame · 22/05/2008 19:38

hmmmm.... if he is on codeine etc then he could well be bunged up, but I would have thought a child they would keep an eye on.

But I have just read your last post on the "posting from GOSH" thread, so nothing surprises me now!!!

Agree. Lactulose

florenceuk · 22/05/2008 19:55

if he is/was on codeine then he will be bunged up. Doctors can prescribe lactulose or movicol (movicol does work!).

SparklyGothKat · 22/05/2008 20:15

he is on codeine. Will phone my GP in the morning.

You can get lactulose over the counter.

callmeovercautious · 22/05/2008 20:21

It will be a combination of the GA and codine. Get some prune juice in him for now and see GP in the morning.

Hope he is feeling OK now X

SparklyGothKat · 22/05/2008 20:28

i don't have prune juice here, what else works?

He is feeling better now he is at home with his daddy
