Mumps in a child that has had the MMR?

My dcs have been in close contact with a child who is displaying symptoms of mumps but who has the MMR jabs. Is it likely that the child has mumps?

If he does, how long until my dcs would show symptoms? I'm assuming ds1 (who has had MMR) should be ok, but ds2 might be more at risk(14 weeks).

Bump, and also wondering if I will be at risk (no MMR injection, but did have mumps as a primary school age child).

not sure but my dd2 developed measles after her MMR but apparently was not contagious as she developed them because of the MMR (apparently 1 in 600 children develop mild case after the injection)

Could be shot down in flames, but here goes...

The only way to test for immunity against MMR is by testing the blood and the booster injection is not a 'top-up' but rather an insurance ie. making sure that if 1st set hasn't taken..

If this is the case, there might be a chance that the child has mumps..

Also, immunisation isn't a guarantee that the child won't get mumps, but perhaps just a milder form of mumps???

Googling (always reliable on health matters ) suggests the MMR isn't that great on preventing mumps.
