Help! Chicken pox spots in nasty places: can I use Eurax there?

Its dd1, she's 4.5 - Eurax is working well on other spots, but I have no idea what to put on her anus/labia which are the most itchy places. I've done bicarb bath, and am about to give her Piriton, but just wondered about creams...?

I do'nt have any calamine cream in the house, HV said it would dry out her skin more and she has eczema and is prone to itchy bum from that at the best of times!

no I wouldn't. I think it says on tube not to. Have you got any aqueous cream?

Don't think you can

Have you got any sudocream you could use instead?

dd2 got chicken pox really badly, had aound 100 spots on her bum and bits and screaming each time she went to the loo, we ended up at the children's hospital with her, they gave us metanium, worked brilliantly

Really sorry to hear she has cpox. You might not want to hear this but just to warn you... my dd1 is a similar age and got very "over active" and wakeful with the piriton...rather than drowsy as lots of children do.

On a positive note it really helped with the itching. One night at 11.30pm we were so knackered that dh and I had to plead with her to turn off the CBeebies website and go to bed. (normally asleep at 7pm)

We let her have lots of cool baths and showers and that really seemed to help her.

Thanks, knew I could count on CP-experienced MNers.

Have been using metanium, so am relieved to hear thats the recommended treatment - and thankfully, she has done the decent thing and got drowsy with Piriton: is now asleep, at least for a while.

Will remember the virtues of CBeebies website if woken at 11.30pm....

really pleased that she hasn't reacted to the piriton. It made dd so grouchy needing to sleep and not being able to.

As well as CBeebies website I also recommend Dora dvds...

Elibean - we spent nearly 5 hours in A and E to be told put metanium on them! just wish the NHS direct had told us that! although in their defence dd2 does have a rare skin condition and the out of hours GP hadn't seen chicken poxs for years and wasn't sure if they were infected.
