DD1 aged 8 has tummy pains, could it be periods starting?

She is only 8! She's been having tummy pains on and off for a while now, but it's particularly bad right now. No temperature, no problems with eating or going to the loo etc. I started at 11, but 8 seems so young. Do they get pains like this before they start, or could it be something else?

I could really do with some advice.

On and off for six weeks or so. She has had to start using deodorant recently, I'm not sure how good an indicator of pubity that is though.

This time it started last night and has carried on all day - she didn't go to school.

I think they're meant to get breast buds before their period starts?

I started getting stomach pains around this age, and I am pretty sure it was lactose intolerance - it's around this age when some kids stop being able to digest milk. Is she burping or anything else funny?
