How many appointments for a dental implant?

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a dental implant and how long the process takes from start to finish.
I am at an appointment next month so will know more then.
Also is it painful to have done? How is the healing process?

Many many appointments
Plus ct scans. It takes months but worth it. It's not painful just uncomfortable for a bit. Depends how many implants and what teeth.

My whole thing lasted eighteen months. My implant dentist was an hour away so a bigger deal than of it was local. There were quite a lot of appointments, probably ten. Sometimes close together, like twice in a week and then others with months in between.
